Zendaya had the Most Shocking Reaction to Disgustingly Obvious Body Shaming

Photoshop is all over Hollywood; that’s no secret. And while some brands are trying to phase out retouching, it seems that the edits will be forever present, even when they’re not necessary. That latest celebrity to be a victim of a terrible Photoshopping job? Zendaya.

The 19-year-old fashionista is featured on the cover of Modeliste Magazine, but noticed something was off in her spread. After taking a closer look at the images that were published, Zendaya realized the photos were severely Photoshopped to make her thighs skinnier and torso longer. Basically, all traces of the actresses’ real body were covered by edits. Not. Okay.

But, instead of lashing out on the magazine like many others have done in the past, the Disney princess took the high road and instead used the retouched images as a way to promote body positivity among young girls.

“Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue.”

Zendaya recently made headlines after Barbie created a doll based on her 2015 Academy Awards red carpet look, changing the brand’s typical representation of beauty standards.

Overall, we think Ms. Coleman had every right to be pissed at Modeliste, but instead, she kept her head up and addressed the problem with poise and eloquence. Keep on slaying, Z!
