Zayn Malik Dropped by Longtime Manager Due to Reported Diva Behavior
Zayn Malik recently returned from his musical hiatus with the release of “Let Me,” but he did it without two people who once played a huge role in his life — his former girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, and his longtime manager, Sarah Stennett.
Variety reports that the 25-year-old was dropped by the First Access Entertainment co-founder because of reported diva behavior.
Sources tell the magazine, “The artist is challenging to work with, declining many promotional opportunities and not touring behind his last album, although he is planning one behind the new set.”
Zayn started working with Sarah shortly after he quit One Direction back in 2015.
The former 1D guy suffers from severe anxiety that forced him to cancel some shows in the past, but that wasn’t the only reason why he didn’t go on tour to support his debut solo album, Mind of Mine, in 2016.
“I did not want to go on stage and just play one album,” he explained a couple months ago. “I want to play a spectacular show and hits. People should be entertained from the first to the last minute, but that does not work if you have only a handful of songs. I think, with the new album I have enough songs together.
He continued, “The pressure was much too high then. I had just left the biggest band in the world and constantly had to justify why I had quit so quickly and so suddenly. That was just a bit much. But now I’m ready to do my thing.”
While a rep for the former 1D guy didn’t respond to the news, Sarah confirmed it by saying, “Sometimes in life you have to make extremely difficult decisions to effect positive change for everyone.”
