Zac Efron Makes “Completely Insensitive” MLK Day Comment & the World’s Pissed
Welp, it looks like Demi Lovato no longer stands as the lone celebrity who’s notorious for making other people’s days all about her. In what started as a tweet to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his national holiday at the beginning of the week, Zac Efron somehow managed to piss a whole lot of people off — and for good reason!
The 28-year-old actor posted a cringe-worthy tweet that has since been deleted saying that he’s “grateful” for MLK…and his 10 million followers on Instagram. He wrote:
“I’m grateful for a couple things today: Martin Luther King Jr & 10 million followers on IG #MLKDay”
Oof. Fans and celebrities both caught onto the insensitive nature of his message even before Zac could fully comprehend his mistaken.
Both very important milestones https://t.co/knVi75y64M

@ZacEfron This is one of the most offensive/diminishing/disrespectful things anyone has said in relation to MLK today. Get over yourself.

@ZacEfron Zac I you, but whichever social media manager told you gaining 10 mil followers and MLK's work are in the same vein, fire them.

A few hours later, the High School Musical star deleted the original tweet and issued an apology on both Twitter and Instagram for the “insensitive” note.
I have nothing but the greatest admiration & respect for MLK. My last post was insensitive & I apologize to anyone who I offended. So sorry.

We appreciate the apology, Zac, ’cause your tweet was pretty darn effed up.
And if you need another reason to be mad at Zac Efron…
