YouTube Star Shares Tragic News that He’s Been Diagnosed With Cancer

By  |

When YouTube star Jake Roper uploaded a video that didn’t cover his normally discussed topics of gaming and jokes, fans were immediately concerned. And, unfortunately, the 28-year-old YouTuber confirmed the worst — he has been diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects the soft tissue.

The first red flag for the Internet Sensation was when doctors found a lump on his shin about five months ago. Once it was removed, doctors weren’t too worried about it, assuming it was benign; since sarcoma is so rare and hard to detect, there was no sign of it upon initial tests.

Keeping in good spirits, Jake shared a picture of the removed tumor with his fans on Instagram joking, “We had grown so close the past few months but it was time for us to go our separate ways. Farewell, Telula!”

According to the YouTuber, he’ll have to go in for more tests, which will hopefully show that the cancer has not yet spread to any other body parts. He’ll also have to go for additional surgeries to replace the muscle in his calf.

Fans took to Twitter to send love Jake’s way:

Our thoughts go out to Jake and his family during this scary time and we hope that Jake has some good news to share with us very soon.
