6 Things We Learned from Our Afternoon with Elle Fanning
There’s really no slowing down the Fanning sisters. While Dakota Fanning‘s been keeping busy with Effie Gray, her 16-year-old baby sister Elle Fanning‘s been hitting up the promotion circuit for her newest movie, Young Ones, which hits theaters October 17.
Alongside Nicholas Hoult, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Michael Shannon, the young actress is dishing all about her new role in which she portrays a young woman who gets impregnated by Nick’s slightly-older character. They soon marry, but the honeymoon’s over before it even begins. To bring you up to speed, here’s the official synopsis: “Set in the future when water is hard to find, a teenage boy [Kodi Smit-McPhee] sets out to protect his family and survive.” Kodi plays Elle’s younger brother.
Keeping all that in mind, we joined Elle in NYC for the Young Ones press conference to talk to her about her gritty new project. Here are six things you need to know from our afternoon chat:
On her Young Ones role:
"I've never been pregnant in a movie before, so I guess you could classify this as the most grown up. Like, Mary is in some ways very child-like. I think she has an innocence to her, even though she's married and is pregnant, there's this kind of essence that... that's why I was kind of drawn to that."
