7 Unearthed Audition Tapes of Your Favorite YA Actresses You Need to See

By  |

Let’s be real, YA books are everything and more when it comes to reading. So obviously when it’s time to make movies based on young adult novels, you know they are going to be epic. If you’re anything like us, you were impatiently waiting for John Green to announce which one of his romantic books was going to be the next film in his line-up (and we are SO grateful it’s Paper Towns). Plus, you know you count down the days in between the Hunger Games films.

We get it, you’re a HUGE fan of YA movies, but have you ever seen some of your fave YA actresses’ audition tapes? Whether Twilight is your favorite film franchise or you are a die-hard Potterhead, we have rounded up auditions that every YA lover needs to see ASAP. See what some of the greatest YA actresses looked like in their first script readings, audition tapes and other gig tryouts:

Emma Watson — Um hello, what’s not to love about Emma? Seriously, from day one she hooked everyone in as Hermione Granger and the Harry Potter world wouldn’t be the same without her. Her super cute and sassy first screen test with both Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint is below. Get excited!

Evanna Lynch — Even though Evanna didn’t join the Harry Potter franchise until the fifth film, she nailed her part as Luna Lovegood. Check out not only clips from her audition, but all of the rave reviews from the casting team about Evanna in this video now. (the audition starts at 0:43)

Zoey Deutch — Ah, Zoey as Rose Hathaway in Vampire Academy is perfect. We’re not going to lie, we couldn’t find her audition tape, but we did discover a video that shows how excited she was when she landed the coveted role. Spoiler: She’s adorable.

Lucy Fry — Okay, so Lucy’s tryout for the role of Lissa Dragomir in Vampire Academy is nowhere to be found but seeing her face when she officially gets the role is priceless. Trust us this video is even better than Zoey’s above.

Mackenzie Foy — We all remember the adorable actress who played Renesmee in Twilight and for good reason… she was perfect. Her audition for the gig speaks for itself and we love her even more after watching it.

Chloe Grace Moretz — This vid is the Georgia native’s audition for the thriller Let Me In (which is a book btw), which technically doesn’t fit the category, but we had to include it, because Chloe is now a YA movie guru. After she filmed the movie she was trying out for in this video, she went on to star in the movie adaption of If I Stay and she’ll soon be seen in another book to film called The 5th Wave so she’s now a YA superstar.

Jennifer Lawrence — J.Law is the queen of YA movies, duh. Unfortunately her Hunger Games tape is hidden somewhere so no one can see it, which is a total bummer. Don’t be too sad because this audition for Lullaby (which she didn’t get a role in) is awesome and it will pump you up for Jennifer’s next box office film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, which hits theaters this November!
