8 YA Movie Actors Who Spilled the Tea About Losing Their Virginity
At the ripe old age of 25, Shailene Woodley has lost her virginity on screen five times. That’s a lot of first-time sex. She told The Hollywood Reporter about those scenes, “One of the things I have been very keen on in doing those scenes is that they feel real because, I don’t know about you, but I do not personally think losing your virginity is a fun experience. It’s not glamorous. It’s not gonna be, ‘Her back arches and she gasps in excitement.’ No, no, it’s gonna be messy and it’s gonna be real.” While Shai is very comfortable talking about her characters‘ first times, she hasn’t necessarily spilled the dirty details on her own personal experience. That’s not the case for all YA movie actors, though.
Shailene’s The Fault in Our Stars co-star (and fellow on-cam virginity loser) Ansel Elgort gave waaaayyyy TMI about his first sexual experience, including how he would go back and make it better. Stars like Cara Delevingne, on the other hand, were willing to say it happened, but didn’t want to divulge more information than that. It's still hard to see Dan as something other than the innocent little wizard in Harry Potter, but since leaving the franchise he's done things (including getting completely naked on stage) to prove he's all grown up. Before the series ended, however, he did reveal that he lost his virginity to his "much older" girlfriend when he was just 16 years old.
"I'm one of the few people who seem to have had a really good first time," he later told Elle magazine. "It was with somebody I'd gotten to know well. I'm happy to say I've had a lot better sex since then, but it wasn't as horrendously embarrassing as a lot of other people's were."
