6 YA Books That Were Abruptly Stopped Mid-Series
It’s bad enough when you have to mourn the loss of a TV show being canceled way too soon, but there’s just no recovering from the aftermath of a book series that totally leaves you in the dark. We thought we had something special here!
Unfortunately, this calamity is more common than you would think. Often, due to poor sales, publishers decide to pull the plug on a book series by putting it on hold or — brace yourselves — canceling it all together. The good news, some authors have managed to bounce back and somewhat salvage all their blood, sweat and tears; the bad news, that’s not always the case. Check out six awesome book series that were given an extended “to be continued:”
Poseur series by Rachel Maude
Teen it-girl fiction was in its prime in the early '00s; series like Gossip Girl and The Clique were pouring out page-turner after page-turner, so it seemed like the readers of the Poseur series, depicting the life of LA fashion-obsessed teens, had at least a solid five books locked in. This, however, was not the case.
After four juicy reads, the series came to a standstill. Characters and plots were completely left in limbo for us readers to forever make false scenarios for and dream up what the heck could have happened to them.
According to one dedicated fan who reached out to Rachel on Instagram, apparently if enough fans request a fifth book to be made, she may just work on getting that done. You know what that means — get those petitions going!
