12 Stars Who Made AWFUL Comments Amid the Harvey Weinstein Scandal
It’s been a couple of weeks since the news of Harvey Weinstein‘s sex scandal broke, and each day we continue to learn more and more about the victims and the crimes he’s committed against them. Many of the victims are A-list celebrities who we’ve seen on our favorite TV shows and in films, afraid to speak out before the news broke for many reasons, including that they thought it would cost them their careers.
However, once some of the victims started coming forward with their stories, a bunch of other brave celebrities began to share their experiences with the once powerful movie mogul as well. Many victims have detailed the terrible things Harvey has done to them, and by doing so, they have rightfully taken back power from the grotesque man who has held his power over their heads for several decades.
Among those who have come forward is actress Kate Beckinsale, who recalled when Harvey assaulted her at just 17 years old. Kate said, “I was called to meet Harvey Weinstein at the Savoy Hotel when I was 17. I assumed it would be in a conference room which was very common. When I arrived, reception told me to go to his room. He opened the door in his bathrobe.” Kate also added that she was able to escape the situation unscathed, but only after refusing his offer of alcohol and insisting that she had school in the morning.
Rose McGowan is another actress who courageously came forward about Harvey’s crimes, saying on Twitter that he had raped her. Soon after taking to the social media platform to share her story, her account was suspended, causing an uprising of celebrities and non-celebrities alike who didn’t want Rose to be victim-shamed or to feel invalidated in any way. Twitter quickly backpedaled, explaining that the reason Rose was suspended was because she tweeted out a personal phone number. However, many people have become skeptical of that explanation, leading many Twitter users to boycott the platform.
Although those are only two examples of the many brave victims that have boldly come forward with statements against Harvey Weinstein, equally as concerning are those celebrities who have come forward with statements that either show support for Harvey — Lindsay Lohan is canceled! — or are just plain insensitive. Check out these 12 celebrities who made the absolute WORST comments amid the Harvey Weinstein scandal, and prepare for some MAJOR eye rolls:
Lindsay Lohan truly broke the Internet when she took to Instagram recently to express her support for the movie mogul, whom she's worked with on a couple projects.
Lindsay said, "I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now, and I don't think it's right what's going on. He's never harmed me or done anything to me, so I think everybody needs to stop."
Oh, Lindsay... just because he's never violated you does NOT mean he's never violated the dozens of other women who came forward.
Lindsay has since deleted the problematic and ignorant videos off of her IG Story, but still, people are mortified with her response... and they should be.
