The 16 Worst Beauty Trends of 2016 That Need to Stop
One of the best things about makeup is how creative it can be. Although I am by no means a professional, I love to play around with new makeup trends, test out new products, and have a little fun. I like my makeup to look good, but I also try not to take it too seriously, because I don’t think it’s something society needs to over-examine every single day. All of that being said, I can’t help but take issue with some of the beauty trends of 2016 that are just… not good. I realize that sounds hypocritical, but there’s a line, and it’s been crossed one too many times this past year.
Makeup should be fun and versatile, but I don’t think it’s something that needs to be pushed to the absolute limit. Sure, playing around and doing silly things is a trip, but this is a year when a joke clown contouring makeup tutorial made headlines for weeks. During 2016, it sometimes felt like we were forgetting what makeup is supposed to do, and just doing things for Instagram likes and attention. You know what I mean?
At the end of the day, you can do whatever you want with your makeup no matter what anyone, including myself, thinks. I’m just saying that I hope to see these trends die a quick death once 2017 starts. Can we go back to makeup tutorials and trends that are actually practical? That’s all I ask!
