17 Famous Females Who Kicked Serious Butt in 2017
Now that we’re entering the final stretch of 2017, we think it’s time that we discuss all of the incredible things that some of our favorite female celebrities have done this year. As is true every year, there is a ton to celebrate because more than ever before female celebs are using their platform to inspire change and make it a better world for women everywhere.
Although it can sometimes seem like celebrities don’t care about anyone else but themselves, the truth is, when they’re not working, many of them are out there in the world spending their free time doing AMAZING things. Some spend their time advocating for women’s rights, while others are busy fighting against racism in the workplace. Some are busy volunteering at a soup kitchen, while others are busy showing LGBTQ youth that they are not alone. These are the things that make the biggest impact on the world, and to be honest, these are the things that make their jobs so important.
Think about it! Just last year, Beyoncé released her highly impressive visual album, Lemonade. Not only did she up the ante for competing musicians in the industry, but her album touched on topics that are considered controversial, like racism and police brutality. In addition to her album, she also continued to work on #BeyGOOD, a philanthropic initiative she began in 2014 to help homeless people, sick children, and unemployed individuals.
And don’t forget Simone Biles! The American gymnast took home four gold medals at last year’s Olympics and has won a total of 19 medals in the Olympics and world championships combined. This makes her the most decorated American gymnast of all time! When she’s not training for the 2020 Olympics, Simone spends a lot of her time inspiring young athletes and working with a charity to help foster kids.
Even though those are just two out of many examples of the AMAZING women that have helped change the world for the better last year, you’ll be glad to know that this year was no different. In 2017, some of your favorite females really stepped it up in their personal lives, and have also used their fame to bring awareness to important issues as well:
After three long years without any new music from Taylor Swift, the global pop sensation made a bold return with her hit single, "Look What You Made Me Do."When the song dropped at the end of August, everyone was left shocked and wondering what happened to the "Old Taylor" we've all come to know and love. Well, apparently, "She's dead," and let us be the ones to tell you that you do NOT want to mess with the new girl.
The single was Taylor's fifth Hot 100 No. 1 and broke the weekly streaming record for a song by a woman. Not only that, but it knocked "Despacito" out of that #1 spot.
With the recent release of Reputation, there's no stopping Tay
