11 Female Celebrities Who Got Slammed for the Same Racist Thing

By  |

It seems like every other day a celebrity is getting in trouble for doing something racist. Whether it’s wearing cornrows — looking at you, Kylie Jenner! — or styling Native American headdresses, stars don’t seem to care who they offend. Even when criticism becomes headline news, many celebs either don’t apologize for appropriating other people’s cultures, or do but then continue to be offensive.

If you’ve ever looked through pictures of famous female stars at Coachella, you’ve probably noticed one thing that often makes an appearance — a bindi, or “a decorative mark worn in the middle of the forehead by Indian women” that is an ancient tradition in Hinduism and has religious significance. So basically, NOT a fashion statement. Time and time again we come across people like Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Beyonce and more who seem to think it’s perfectly fine to steal from others’ cultural practices for the sake of an Instagram photo; not cool. Stars live busy lives, but they shouldn’t be too busy to educate themselves on what is politically correct. See all the celebs who appropriated Indian culture by wearing a bindi as a fashionable ~accessory~ in the gallery below:
