Taylor Swift Premieres “Red” and Announces 2012 EMA Performance

First thing’s first, we must, must, must discuss Taylor Swift‘s follow-up to last week’s “Begin Again” release. At the stroke of 12 midnight, her song, “Red,” from her upcoming album of the same name, premiered on iTunes after a preview on Good Morning America yesterday. Just like Ed Sheeran suggested in his first tour diary with us, it’s far from any of the music we’ve heard from Tay in the past. But before you get a listen, read some of the emotional lyrics here:

Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street
Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly
Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you’re already flying through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn, so bright, just before they lose it all

Losing him was blue, like I’ve never known
Missing him was dark grey, all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
But loving him was red
Loving him was red

Touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you
Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite song
Fighting with him was like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there’s no right answer
Regretting him was like wishing you’d never found out that love could be that strong

This isn’t the only exciting T.Swift news to come today. It was just announced that, along with No Doubt and Muse, Taylor’s set to perform at the 2012 EMAs. She says, “I’ve always wanted to go to the EMA, because you hear about the spectacle of it, and how everyone just goes all out for their performances. To be nominated for five EMAs was the most exciting feeling, and I was absolutely blown away. I can’t wait to be there this year and perform on the show!” If you want to see Miss Swift at the EMAs, tune in to MTV2 on Sunday, November 11 at 11 pm ET/PT.
