Shailene Woodley: Andrew Garfield’s ‘Spider-Man’ Made Me Feel Invincible

On Wednesday, Shailene Woodley opened up about playing Tris in Divergent, but now she’s talking about her character in another sure-to-be blockbuster. While promoting her indie film The Spectacular Now at the Sundance Film Festival, the Secret Life of the American Teenager star caught up with MTV’s Josh Horowitz and explained why she’s so excited to play Mary-Jane Watson in the upcoming sequel to 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man.

For one, she can’t wait to work with Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, as she said they’re “the best of the best.” Also, Shailene mentioned that Spider-Man has always been her favorite superhero “dude,” and said watching Andrew portray Peter Parker/Spider-Man in last summer’s blockbuster flick made her feel “invincible.” Also, it’s not just Shailene who is praising Emma and Andrew. Emma actually spoke about meeting Shailene recently and said, “[Shailene’s] really cool… I went to dinner with her. She’s really, really nice. She’s a cool girl.”

And though Shailene mentioned she doesn’t the know the exact timeline of when she’ll begin filming the project, The Amazing Spider-Man sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on May 2, 2014. Watch Shailene’s full interview above.
