Shailene Woodley & Ansel Elgort Teach ‘Hugs 101’ on MTV After Hours with Josh Horowitz
If you’re a fan of Shailene Woodley, then you should be well aware of her hugging powers. (We even got to experience ’em firsthand at the junket for The Fault in Our Stars!) According to her Divergent dad, Tony Goldwyn, “It was about 6 o’clock in the morning on my first day of work. We were driving over together and [Shailene] leapt out and gave me a long hug. I was like ‘wow.'” So it makes perfect sense that she was enlisted to teach ‘Hugs 101’ alongside Ansel Elgort.
Ansel could well attest to his on-screen counterparts wondrous embraces since he was quoted saying, “My first Shailene hug was when I met her for the audition and I was taken by surprise. I thought maybe she knew me or something… and I didn’t really hug her back… To this day she tells me that she wasn’t sure she’s going to like me or not because I didn’t hug her back. She thought I might not be a real grounded person.” And on MTV After Hours with Josh Horowitz, the twosome performed the step-by-step process of giving and receiving the perfect hug. Step 1 is a simple: A good squeeze.
For all of the steps, you’ve gotta watch the fun video above! Oh yeah, and make sure to check out The Fault in Our Stars (which is full of hugs), in theaters on June 6!
