‘Romeo & Juliet’ Trailer Makes Its Debut

By  |

William Shakespeare‘s iconic play Romeo & Juliet is getting yet another big screen treatment, and the first trailer has just been released. Starring Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth as the ill-fated, star-crossed lovers, we’re finally getting a look at the movie that’s staying to to its Shakespearean roots.

In the trailer, we also get to see Gossip Girl‘s Ed Westwick as Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin who is murdered by Romeo (come on it’s not a spoiler, you have to know that by now). Also, Kodi Smit-McPhee stars as Benvolio, who is Romeo’s cousin, and (somewhat) unsuccessfully tries to make peace between the Capulet and Montague families after a long-time feud. Hence, making Romeo and Juliet’s love forbidden. Oh, and not to mention we get a sneak peek at what is arguably one of the most famous scenes of all time — the balcony scene. (O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?)

The film is set to be released some time later this year. Check out the trailer above, and tell us what you think of it in the comments section!
