One Direction Announces First Single Off Upcoming Album, “Live While We’re Young”

After all the teasing about “something massive” on Twitter and Facebook, the boys of One Direction finally came out with the #1DBigAnnouncement we’ve all been waiting for: news on their upcoming album, including the name of their latest single. At 1pm UK time, the video you’re about to see was released to the 1DFamily, and let’s just say not one Directioner was disappointed. And there’s no reason they should be — “Live While We’re Young” will be available for pre-order as of midnight (again, UK time) — drum roll, please — tonight.

And just to make you more anxious to watch the video, Louis Tomlinson gives a special shout-out to the fans: “We want to say a massive ‘thank you’ to you guys, because we wouldn’t be where we are without you.”

The one downside? The release of the song, along with the actual CD, will not happen at the same time around the entire globe. As of right now, “LWWY” is scheduled for September 30 in the UK and October 1 in the US, while the album is set for some time in November. (But we’re sure whoever gets it first will leak it onto the Internet somehow, so we’ll all get a listen!)

“Live While We’re Young” will serve as the band’s fifth single (overseas), behind “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Gotta Be You,” “One Thing” and “More Than This.” But before it debuts, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis are set to perform at their very first MTV Video Music Awards. Hopefully they’ll rock the house, just like they did at the London Olympics (and maybe even perform their soon-to-be hit!).
