It’s been days since the 2013 Golden Globes, but people are still talking about Jennifer Lawrence‘s speech. ICYMI, while accepting the award for Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical (Silver Linings Playbook), Jenn exclaimed, “I beat Meryl,” in reference to a quote from The First Wives Club. But not everyone took it as lightly as she intended.

After the backlash, Jennifer tells David Letterman, “I had no idea Lindsay Lohan would take to the Twitterverse — is that what they call it? The Twitter- I’m not on Twitter — but Twitter is very upset” because onlookers are now under the impression that she was gunning for Meryl Streep.

Jenn then clears the air, “First of all, it’s Meryl Streep. You can’t offend Meryl Streep.” Then jokingly bashes the multi-Academy Award-winning actress. Watch the video for more of J.Law’s explanation!
