Jennifer Lawrence Talks Sam Claflin in ‘Catching Fire’ at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival

The red carpet for the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival has been nothing short of star-studded. (Even Kristen Stewart, who’s been mostly M.I.A. from all public events in recent months, made an appearance.) So it was no surprise to see The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence during the festivities. Although her horror movie, House at the End of the Street, is slated for this year, she attended TIFF alongside new co-star Bradley Cooper to promote their upcoming, not-yet-rated flick, Silver Linings Playbook. However, when it came time for MTV’s Josh Horowitz to interview the pair, you can bet that next year’s THG sequel made a play in the exclusive.

Josh’s first question: “Hunger Games. You’re doing another one of those. Or a few… Is Francis [Lawrence] the right guy to take over for [former director] Gary [Ross]?” Although Jenn didn’t get a chance to give a full-on answer (thanks to Bradley’s continuous banter. Not complaining though), she was able to squeeze in a mention about Sam Claflin AKA the SWATH actor chosen to play the coveted role of Finnick Odair in Catching Fire. She says, “He’s wonderful. He’s really sweet, a great, wonderful actor. He’s got a great American accent.”

Bradley didn’t have much to say about Sam himself, since he’s not a part of that franchise, but he was able to make a few remarks about other parts of the series, including the first major CF casting. “Philip Seymour Hoffman is in this (as Plutarch Heavensbee). He’s unbelievable.” But he did express a little bit of disappointment for the second Hunger Games film as well. “I’m bummed out that Wes Bentley (who played Seneca Crane) got killed. He was awesome.”
