Wands at the ready? ’cause they should be, what with the first trailer for the Harry Potter series’ spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, hitting the Internet and all. That’s right, the prequel movie, starring Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne, is well underway, and the first real footage can now be seen. While it doesn’t offer much insight into the upcoming film, which was actually penned by J.K. Rowling herself, it’ll still send chills up your spine and back down again.

The highly-anticipated tale follows the adventures of writer Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards around 70 years prior to the HP franchise, well before Harry, Hermione & Ron were even glimmers in their parents’ minds. Heck, it’s set even before their parents were born.

According to the official synopsis, “The film opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident… were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob (Dan Fogler), a misplaced magical case and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.”

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, starring Eddie Redmayne, Colin Farrell, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller and more, hits theaters on November 18, 2016. Until then, watch the trailer above!
