Ed Sheeran Covers One Direction’s “Little Things” During Paris Concert (VIDEO)

Uhh, is it technically still called a ‘cover’ if the performer actually wrote it? Kicking off his European tour in Paris, Ed Sheeran crooned One Direction‘s love ballad “Little Things.” But unlike the other 1D covers we’ve seen recently (i.e. Austin Mahone’s “More Than This” rendition), Ed actually penned the lyrics and melody himself. Watch him perform it acoustic above. Our favorite part: When he shushes the audience after the first line. Ha!

Oddly enough, the British-Irish boy band recently spoke of Ed’s connection to the track. Harry Styles tells MTV, “[“Little Things”] actually wasn’t one of [them] we were supposed to be recording. We went in to record a different one of his and he said ‘I’ve written something else if you want to hear it’… he wrote it and then played it to us in the session when we were supposed to record something else and we said ‘All right, we want to record that now.'”

And the rest is history. What do you think of Ed’s version? Do you think he and 1D should collab? Tell us below or join the conversation on our Ed Sheeran message board!
