This American Idol Alum Proves Anything Is Possible
The 13th (!) season of American Idol is in full swing, but don't think we've forgotten about season 12's contestants just yet! In fact, not only did all of these hopefuls do so well during FOX's hit singing competition last year, but they all managed to share some extremely helpful words of advice to millions of people.
Take for example Burnell Taylor. The soulful singer came in seventh place last season, but his time on the show taught him numerous lessons. Before making it to the show — where he made judge Mariah Carey cry during his audition! — his family was severely affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Though it was a struggle, Burnell said that he was "thankful" for the devastation, because it taught him to believe in himself and his singing abilities.
That also lead him to take part in a talent show that further confirmed his desire to sing. To see more of Burnell's story, watch the video above!
