Yep, get pumped Vic fans, because the 22-year-old actress is coming back to TV with a reimagined version of the original film that will air this fall. Plus, she’ll be singing and dancing! Learn all about it below:
Why did you decide to team up with the NFL and Verizon for this Virtual Reality Experience and the Verizon’s #Minute50 initiative?
“I feel like it’s a really special event. It’s obviously the 50th Super Bowl and Verizon is doing this really cool thing where every 50 minutes of the hour they’re giving away cool prizes. And I’m here with JJ Watt today and he’s really cool. It’s been a really fun experience.”
“I got to play this amazing virtual game where I’m basically a quarterback during the final moments of the game and I have to score the winning touchdown, which I actually did twice, so I’m very proud of myself. I didn’t think I could pull it off, but [I did].”
Are you a big football fan yourself?
“Not a huge one, but I can appreciate it.”
What’s your favorite sports movie/TV show?
“I don’t know if Bring It On counts? I’m going to say Bring It On (laughs).”
Who is your all-time favorite Halftime performer & why?
“I mean honestly, I wish I could’ve seen Amy Winehouse perform during the halftime show. I’m a huge fan of hers and I feel like that would’ve been a great show and I love her music.”
Let’s talk about your upcoming role on Rocky Horror Picture Show. What can you tell us about your role of Janet?
“It’s a reimagining of the original film. We’re filming it in Toronto and it’s going to air this fall. I play Janet Weiss who was originally played by Susan Sarandon. She kind of starts of as this very naive character who’s getting engaged to Brad (who will be played by Ryan McCartan). Their car breaks down and they’re stuck in the middle of a rainstorm and they see this huge castle and they think, ‘okay, let’s go and ask and see if we can ask to use their phone and see if they can fix our car.’ Little do they know they step into Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s lair and it becomes the most transformative, crazy night of their lives. Janet kind of experiences a sexual awakening.”
“It’s a really interesting movie. It’s a cult classic obviously. There are midnight showings. There’s obviously a huge, loyal fan base for it. I’m very excited about it. It’s very campy. It’s very out there, but the music is great. The characters are really fun and I think it’s going to be really cool to sort of do a reimagining of it. Kenny Ortega is directing it and just working with him so far has been amazing. He has such great energy and such a vision for it. The choreography is going to be so awesome. We’re really doing something kind of new and exciting with it, but obviously staying true to the original.”
Speaking of musicals, you watched Grease Live correct? What did you think about Vanessa Hudgens’ performance?
“Ya I did with the Rocky Horror cast. I thought she did a great job. Ya, she did an awesome job. I thought her performance of, I believe the song is, ‘There Are Worst Things I Could Do,’ I thought was great. I thought she sounded amazing and it was a really emotional moment. It’s not easy to pull off a whole live show like that. They were running around like crazy and I think everyone did a really great job.”
We recently talked to Daniela about the Victorious cast reunions. Apparently, they happen more often than we realized! How often do you guys really meet up?
“Not very often, because it is so hard to schedule everyone to get together because we’re all traveling and all over the place and working on different things, so it’s really challenging. Whenever we do get the chance to, like we did recently, we kind of jump on it because it rarely happens. It was really cool to get the whole gang back together again and to see everyone. Ya, we had a really good time.”
