By  |

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost time for the summer movie season! While there are plenty of familiar faces who will be gracing the big screen in the coming months (Andrew Garfield, Channing Tatum, Mark Wahlberg, etc) let’s not forget about their newbie co-stars!

Yes, there is a fresh crop of talent who’ll be showing off their acting chops in some of summer’s sure-to-be-blockbusters, so we thought we’d introduce you to them before they blow up. Check out 11 summer box office newbies you need to know about by scrolling below!

1. Nicola Peltz, Transformers: Age of Extinction (June 27, 2014)

This 19-year-old actress is set to star in Transformers: Age of Extinction as Mark Wahlberg‘s daughter. Doesn’t get much more blockbuster-y than that!

2. Jack Reynor, Transformers: Age of Extinction (June 27, 2014)

And speaking of Transformers, 22-year-old Jack will also star in the highly anticipated sequel.

3. Dane DeHaan, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (May 2, 2014)

You might recognize Dane from his roles in Chronicle or The Place Beyond the Pines, but his role as Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is his first foray into a major summer blockbuster.

4. Emma Fuhrmann, Blended (May 23, 2014)

Emma will star as the sister of Bella Thorne and the daughter of Adam Sandler in Blended, which is guaranteed to be a hit since it’s the third reteaming of Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

5. Ella Purnell, Maleficent (May 30, 2014)

Ella will play a young version of Angelina Jolie‘s Maleficent in this highly-anticipated Disney movie. Those are some big shoes to fill! (Or should we say horns?)

6. Nat Wolff, The Fault In Our Stars (June 6, 2014)

There’s a good chance you’ve already heard of Nat, but thanks to his portrayal of Gus’ blind BFF Isaac in the big screen adaptation of John Green‘s novel, we’ll sure it’s just a matter of time before he’s a household name.

7. Wyatt Russell, 22 Jump Street (June 13, 2014)

Wyatt has a role in the 21 Jump Street sequel along side Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, but working with big names shouldn’t be a big deal for him, considering he’s the son of two of Hollywood’s biggest stars — Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

8. Mia Rose Frampton, Tammy (July 2, 2014)

Mia was part of the hilarious jewelry story fight in 2011’s Bridesmaids where she went head-to-head with Kristen Wiig, but is teaming up with another Bridesmaids star (Melissa McCarthy) for the sure-to-be-blockbuster Tammy. Oh, and did we mention her dad is legendary singer Peter Frampton?

9. Laura Haddock, Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014)

You might recognize Laura as the wife of Catching Fire‘s Sam Claflin, but she’s taking part in her own franchise as she’ll star in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy which also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and many more.

10. Abby Elliott, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (August 8, 2014)

Abby got her start on Saturday Night Live, but made the leap to the big screen as she has a role in the upcoming Michael Bay-directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that also stars Megan Fox.

11. Cameron Monaghan, The Giver (August 15, 2014)

There is NO shortage of star power in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Lois Lowry‘s book of the same name. Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, and Katie Holmes are just a few names of its stars, however, newcomers — like Cameron — are sure to get some recognition for starring in the film as well.
