You Guys, We Found the Perfect Vacation Spot for You & Your Friends This Summer
School’s out (for the most part)! Summer is here (for the most part)! You know what that means, right? Endless amounts of time to spend with your closest friends — minus all those classes that seemingly never end — and we know exactly how you should spend at least a small portion of that time (though, if you’d prefer a larger portion, we wouldn’t blame you).
On May 24, Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida opened the doors to its new water theme park, Volcano Bay, just for press — one day before its official grand opening. And, since Teen.com & Universal are like this *wraps middle finger around index finger* (or, at least, we’d like to believe so), we were invited for the special, once-in-a-lifetime occasion!
FULL DISCLOSURE: We’ve been on our fair share of trips to Universal Orlando since 2014, when the park expanded The Wizarding World of Harry Potter… with Diagon Alley!!!! So, needless to say, we have an unhealthy obsession with the Floridian attraction. Nevertheless, what you’re about to read is absolute truth; if we didn’t like what we saw, we wouldn’t say we did; if we didn’t like what we ate, we wouldn’t say we did; if we didn’t… well, you get the picture.
ANYWAY, now for the good stuff: WE FOUND THE PERFECT SUMMER VACATION SPOT FOR YOU & YOUR BFFS! We know you’ve probably been to waterparks before, but this place is way different than anything we’ve ever personally experienced… and we’ve done the whole waterpark thing in the past. Here are all the reasons why Volcano Bay is so special:
First off, there are no lines. Place your trusty TapuTapu around your wrist, which you receive upon entry, tap it at the entrance of the ride you wish to journey through and it’ll inform you of when you can enter. No more waiting around!
Speaking of rides, the rides are insane! At the very top of the “volcano,” there are three tubes of varying degrees that’ll send you plummeting down the mountain, slide-style. You walk in, the door closes and, soon, the floor will open up beneath you… and you free fall all the way down to a pool! (Honestly, one of the most terrifying but rewarding experiences of all time.)
Whether or not that’s your jam, there are still plenty of other water-filled experiences — like the Puihi raft slides. Here we are,
screaming having fun on one of them with our friends from Gurl.com & Hypable.com:
Oh, and the views are really something to behold. On one side of the “volcano,” there’s a wave pool, which churns out nine different kinds of waves, according to one of the lifeguard buddies we made. Makes for some pretty awesome selfies, TBH.
Never would we ever rave about theme-park food (well, apart from the noms in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter), but the food is FAN-tastic. Like, what other water park serves jerk shrimp and mac & cheese (our personal favorite from the various menus — and, trust us, we did our fair share of sampling)?

And we 100% appreciate the authenticity of the establishment. Kia ora!
We know we just went there… but we can’t wait to go back! We won’t be too greedy, though — it’s your turn to make a *splash* there. Grab your friends and go!
