Flashback Friday: 8 TV Characters You Forgot Were Replaced on Your Fave Shows

By  |

When it comes to TV shows, sometimes it's hard to imagine anyone else playing the role besides that particular actor. Take for instance, the cast of Pretty Little Liars. Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell all play their characters so perfectly, it's safe to say the show wouldn't be what it is today without these ladies.

However, some characters on the hit ABC Family show are a bit more expendable. Take for instance, Ali's big bro Jason. During the show's first season he was played by Parker Bagley, then BOOM, in came a brand new Jason played by Drew Van Acker. This certainly wouldn't be the first TV character switch-a-roo.

In honor of today's Flashback Friday, we're looking back at eight TV characters you (probably) forgot were replaced on your favorite TV shows. Check them out below!

1. Jason DiLaurentis, Pretty Little Liars

During the first season of the hit ABC Family show, Ali's older brother was played by Parker Bagley, then was replaced by Drew Van Acker. Speaking of, where the heck has Jason been?!

2. Aunt Vivian, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

For the first three seasons, the role of Will Smith's aunt was played by Janet Hubert-Whitten, but they brought in another actress — Daphne Maxwell Reid — for the show's last two seasons.

3. Morgan Matthews, Boy Meets World

Lily Nicksay took on the role of Cory's younger sister for the first two season of the hit show, then was replaced by Lindsay Ridgeway for season three through seven.

4. Kaitlin Cooper, The OC

Our girl Shailene Woodley played the younger sister of Marissa Cooper during season one, but then for season three, they brought in Willa Holland for the role.

5. Laurie Foreman, That 70’s Show

For the first five seasons of the FOX comedy, Eric's mean older sister was played by Lisa Robin Kelly, but then was replaced during season six by actress Christina Moore.

6. Carol, Friends

Ross' ex-wife and (first) baby mam was played by Anita Barone during the first season, then was replaced with Jane Sibbet.

7. Lily, Modern Family

During the show's first two seasons, the role of Cam and Mitch's adopted daughter was played by twins, Jaden and Ella Hiller, but for the third season (and beyond) Aubrey Anderson-Emmons has been the gal for the part.

8. Ann Veal, Arrested Development

Her? For the first season of the cult comedy, George-Michael's forgettable GF was played by Alessandra Torresani, but then Mae Whitman replaced her for the remainder of the series.
