Trace Cyrus Releases Tune for Ex-GF Brenda Song on Valentine’s Day
Nothing says happy Valentine’s Day quite like a song all about how you ruined a relationship. Trace Cyrus and Brenda Song were together for seven years before they called it quits in 2017, but their relationship was anything but smooth. The pair called off their engagement in 2012 and there were later rumors of a pregnancy and miscarriage that ended up being untrue. They eventually got back together, but ultimately the romance didn’t work out.
Both the 29-year-old actress and 28-year-old musician have since moved on from their on-again, off-again relationship, but that didn’t stop Miley Cyrus’ brother from releasing an emotional song called “Brenda” he wrote shortly after they broke up last year on V-Day. #Romance
Trace posted a picture of himself and the Disney Channel alum on Instagram and wrote, “This is not the video I intended to release today. But it seemed meant to be since I just got this video last night. I wrote this song last year in Nashville after Brenda & I broke up. Her and I have both moved on and I’m extremely happy for her. She inspired me to write countless songs and was such an important part of my life.”
“I will always cherish songs I have like this one to remind me of our crazy 7 years together,” he continued. “When I wrote this song it was my final goodbye as we ended our relationship. I told myself after I wrote this song it would be my last song about Brenda and I’ve kept my word. Music like this is my therapy. Enjoy. Happy Valentine’s Day my first music video will be out on my birthday Feb 24th.”
In the tune, he basically admits that he’s to blame, at least partially, for the couple’s demise and says he wants her back. Trace did say it was written a year ago, so it’s pretty safe to assume that he no longer feels this way today. Check it out!
