Looks like the Maze Runner has added another star to its cast. Deadline is reporting that young actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster has nabbed a coveted role in the highly-anticipated big screen adaptation of the YA novel. In the film, Thomas will play the role of Newt, who is described as “second in command.”

If you haven’t read the book penned by James Dashner, here’s a quick synopsis: the post-apocalyptic tale centers on a 16-year-old named Thomas who wakes up with his memory wiped. He then realizes he’s trapped in enormous maze with a large number of other young men in a community called The Glade, and soon learns they’re part of some kind of test. Thomas then realizes it’s his destiny to join the “maze runners” and lead them to freedom.

Thomas’ character Newt is the one who informs Thomas (you still following us?) about where he is, and how The Glade works. The film Thomas will be played by The Chronicles of Narnia star Will Poulter. Maze Runner is scheduled to hit the big screen on February 14, 2014.

And if Thomas looks familiar, you might recognize him as the adorable little boy in 2003’s Love, Actually or he is currently set to star in the third season of HBO’s smash series, Game of Thrones.
