The Winner of Rachel Lindsay’s Season of The Bachelorette is Shocking AF

By  |

In what might’ve been the most emotional finale in The Bachelorette history (yes, we realize Chris Harrison says that every year, but SERIOUSLY), Rachel Lindsay officially chose her Prince Charming, but it may not be who you expected…

Major congratulations are in order for Rachel and her new fiancé, Bryan Abasolo, who sealed their love with an engagement on last night’s finale of The Bachelorette.

The tears, the heartbreak and ALL the drama we endured this season was finally worth it as Rachel has officially chosen her perfect match. After having to go through not one, but TWO breakups during last night’s season finale, it’s safe to say Bachelor Nation is emotionally drained as Eric Bigger was the first to go home last night. However, he handled the situation like a total pro:

Rachel then managed to completely shock the world after what many thought would be Peter Kraus getting down on one knee. As Rachel and Peter’s conversation quickly went south due to his unwillingness to propose after only knowing Rachel for two-and-a-half months, hopes and dreams across the nation were completely shattered.

There’s no denying these two tried everything to make it work, however, Rachel just couldn’t seem to get past Peter’s hesitance on proposing so soon, and he couldn’t get past being logical about their situation, even though he admitted he wasn’t ready to give her up. It was then that Rachel was forced to make the tough decision to say goodbye in what might be the most gut-wrenching breakup in Bachelor(ette) history.

BUT, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, as the intense chemistry with Rachel and Bryan was undeniable throughout the duration of the season, and she seems to have been pleased with his willingness to propose to her. On top of a beautiful Spanish castle was Rachel waiting for her knight in shining armor to completely blow her away (LITERALLY — did you SEE that wind?!) and pop the question:

@therachlindsay Rachel ❤️ my love, my rock!! It's felt like forever, but the wait is finally over!!! ?? No longer do I have to hide the fact that you are and always have been the one for me! No longer do I have to keep secret how in love w you I truly am from the rest of the world! Hearing you say "yes" on the top of that castle in Spain was the greatest moment of my life! I was optimistic about what could be prior to stepping out of that limo but never in my wildest dreams could I had foreseen us building such a strong foundation and deep bond in the last 6 months. Every single day literally gets better and better with you and reaffirms that God placed you in my path for a reason. We've gone through so much…the ups, the downs, the challenges…but in the end, what shines above all else is the deep love, loyalty, respect and admiration we have for each other and that's what will continue to carry us through into our future. I can't wait to start our new life together full of fun and adventure! I am so blessed and lucky to have you and I promise to cherish you forever! I love you baby! ❤️?? #whenyouknowyouknow #thebacheloretteabc #bachelornation

Rachel and Bryan then appeared together on After the Final Rose together, where they seemed completely smitten with each other. The two are still happily engaged and are ready to figure life out post-The Bachelorette. As for their future nuptials, they haven’t set a date just yet, and they’re still figuring out where they will be starting their life together, whether that be LA, Miami or Dallas.

As for Peter, three months after the breakup, he still seems to be taking it rather hard as he admitted to crying backstage before he came out, and even attempting to reach out to Rachel after they wrapped production, but was told a firm N-O. Hearts around the world are heavy for Peter, but there’s no doubt his time will come. Whether that be as the next Bachelor or not, we’ll be ready!
