Taylor Swift, One Direction Among 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Performers

Go ahead and tell us; the chorus to Taylor Swift’s new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” — the first of (hopefully) many from her upcoming album, Red — has been stuck in your head since the very first time you heard it. (It’s okay, it’s happened to us, too.) Anyway, it was just announced, exactly a week after the single was released, that Taylor will perform the song live for the first time at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.

We know what you’re thinking: What will she wear? Will it be sparkly? What will the stage be like? Will whichever ex she’s singing about in the track — Joe Jonas? Taylor Lautner? — actually be in the audience?

And even besides the big Taylor announcement, there’s still plenty of other VMA performance goodies to look forward to. As we told you earlier, P!nk will also be there to perform a brand new song from her new album, The Truth About Love, as well as Alicia Keys, Green Day and… One Direction! Although MTV could add more acts, we’re totally stoked to see 1D boys at their first-ever Video Music Awards. And we think they are as well. Here’s the 1D promo to prove it:

Besides epic performances (remember Lady Gaga/Jo Calderone’s “You and I” last year?), the VMAs have a long history of having the best presenters, and this year is no exception. At the top of this year’s list are Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa and the Fab (or Fierce, if you please) Five of the gold medal-winning Olympic gymnastics team AKA Gabby Douglas, Kyla Ross, Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney.

The 2012 VMAs aren’t until Sept. 6, but voting is only open until 6pm EST this Friday, so you have three more days to vote for your favorite nominees!
