6 Tell-Tale Signs That Taylor Swift & Lorde’s Friendship is DOOMED
Well, the rumors are true: Taylor Swift and Lorde‘s friendship hasn’t always been smooth sailing. In fact, Lorde said some questionable things about Taylor in some interviews before they ever became squad-mates many years ago. It actually wasn’t until 2013 that their friendship blossomed under the most ideal of circumstances: while they were chowing down on some burgers at Shake Shack in New York City!
Even though a burger date is pretty much a no-fail recipe for a successful BFF-dom, it appears that on both sides, the relationship between the two pop stars just isn’t as strong as it used to be. Recently, the Internet has been speculating a lot about whether the Tay and Lorde even talk anymore and, more importantly, whether or not Lorde is still an active member of the infamous “squad”.
Even with all of the rumors swirling that things aren’t ~fab~ between these (former?) BFFs, Lorde has spoken pretty highly of Taylor over the years, making it hard to believe that the friendship could possibly be over. For example, in 2015 Lorde told Dazed magazine that Taylor “definitely brought me into this amazing world of supportive female friendship.” She also gushed about her FBF (famous best friend) to Jimmy Fallon, saying that “she’s really funny and people don’t expect it.”
Even though Lorde has said such sweet things about Taylor in the past, Tay totally fangirled over Lorde, too! …and on more than one occasion. For fans of both artists, there was nothing more exciting and empowering than seeing Taylor promoting Lorde’s new music on her personal Instagram. Come on… what could be better than a super supportive BFF? Pretty much nothing!
And even with all of those AMAZING moments that make us totally jealous of their strong bond, there are still plenty of reasons to believe that Taylor and Lorde’s friendship might possibly not last (that is, if it’s not already over). Check it out:
Taylor didn't include Lorde on her Spotify playlist.
The most tell-tale sign that things aren't right between Lorde and Taylor came when Taylor decided to share a Spotify playlist with her fans. The playlist was called, "Songs Taylor Loves," and included the music of some of her most well-known squad members, including Ed Sheeran, HAIM and Selena Gomez.
Noticeably absent from this list? Lorde! Are we crazy or does this seem like the biggest snub to ever exist?
