FINALLY, an Update on Taylor Swift’s Involvement in the Cats Movie
Taylor Swift has been keeping a relatively low profile and we’ve just about had it up to here. Like, we get that everyone has a right to privacy and everything… but we miss her! It’s, like, we saw her on the Reputation Stadium Tour (more than once, mind you), but haven’t heard a peep from her otherwise. Ugh! We’re not okay.
There is something to look forward to, though. Even if we don’t get new music from the singer for a while (which would absolutely SUCK, but whatever), we know one thing’s for certain: We’ll still be able to hear her sweet voice on the big screen next year! Remember, the 28-year-old musician is tapped to star in the latest film adaptation of the Broadway musical Cats.
Along with Jennifer Hudson, James Corden and Ian McKellen, the “Getaway Car” crooner is being featured in the Universal Pictures production. However, her involvement has remained somewhat of a secret… until now. Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed the musicial, spoke with Vulture at the annual American Theatre Wing gala about the film, and spilled a little bit of tea (or, milk, as Vulture so cleverly called it) about Tay-Tay.
T.Swift will reportedly play the flirty Bombalurina or the skittish Demeter, the duo that sings “Macavity the Mystery Cat,” if you’re familiar with the show.
“She’s going to play one or other of the ‘Macavity.’ Well, basically, [director] Tom Hooper thought it was a really good idea and, of course, she loves cats. We’ll see. I mean, I haven’t met her, so I’m looking forward to meeting her and seeing her [at work].”
Cats is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2019. Until then, we’ll have Reputation on repeat.
