19 Straight Actresses Speak Out About Their Strong Lesbian Roles
The entertainment industry is no longer just revolved around your typical guy-girl relationships anymore. With a more open-minded and accepting society comes the reflection of more homosexual relationships on some of our favorite shows and movies, including Pretty Little Liars and Glee. And with changing landscapes comes changing roles for actresses in film and television, leading many actresses who normally identify as straight taking on lesbian roles.
While many of the more memorable homosexual characterizations may be from gay actors playing straight characters in film and television, that doesn’t mean that the lesbian roles aren’t out there. And many of the actresses who have switched gender-identity for a homosexual role have actually spoken out on their uncomfortable yet eye-opening experiences. Here are the beautiful stars who spoke out about their strong gay roles:
Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle
Okay, so J.Law's character in American Hustle wasn't exactly a lesbian. But, she did have to kiss fellow straight co-star Amy Adams. So, what did she have to say about the experience? Well, according to an interview with Access Hollywood, the kiss wasn't even in the scripts — and it was Amy's idea!
"When we started the scene and I was in it, it completely made sense. Rosaline has a toxic need to be in control, to overpower a situation, I did not think it made sense before David [O. Russell] called action!"
