The Star Wars Cast Has Been Revealed, and a Harry Potter Star’s in It!
Anybody freaking out yet? 'cause we sure are. After much talk, the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII has finally been revealed — and it includes your favorites from the original trilogy! Yes, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) will be reprising the roles they originated in 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.
According to Disney, which bought George Lucas' Lucasfilm, the latest in the franchise will pick up 30 years after Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi. "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud," director J.J. Abrams said after the news broke. Here's your first look at the stars:
J. J. Abrams with (clockwise from right) Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, producer Bryan Burk, Lucasfilm president and producer Kathleen Kennedy, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and writer Lawrence Kasdan.
Although rumored talents like Josh Hutcherson and Debby Ryan are noticeably absent from the list, one name that may stand out to Teen.com readers is Domhnall Gleeson a.k.a. Harry Potter's Bill Weasley! Though his part in SW is still unknown, we think it's great to see a representative from another one of the biggest film franchises of all time.
The seventh installment in the series is tapped to hit theaters around the world on December 18, 2015. What do you think of the cast so far? Are you looking forward to seeing Star Wars come to life on the big screen after so many years? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
