6 Singers You Had No Idea Were Almost Disney Channel Stars
Disney Channel has always been instrumental in discovering and launching the careers of young talent. Many celebrities that started off on Disney Channel remain some of today’s hottest stars, and without Disney Channel, it’s hard to say for sure whether or not they would’ve been discovered at all. Would Miley Cyrus be a household name without Hannah Montana? Would people care at all about Demi Lovato if it weren’t for Camp Rock and Sonny With a Chance? Would the Jonas Brothers even be a thing if Disney hadn’t debuted their music video for “Mandy?” It’s hard to know!
However, while it’s true that it definitely helps to have “former Disney Channel star” on your résumé, some young celebs have auditioned for Disney roles and have been rejected, leaving them no choice but to find another way to make it in the dog-eat-dog entertainment industry. And although it’s difficult, many have proven that it’s not impossible. Check out these six singers who were almost Disney stars, but didn’t quite make the cut. (Don’t worry… things turned out just fine for them!)
Although the "Rumors" singer also starred in some epic movies, like The Parent Trap, Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and SO many more, she still qualifies as a singer who was almost a Disney Channel star. ('cause, LBR, her Disney flick, Get a Clue, didn't skyrocket her to stardom.)
Wonder what she auditioned for? Well, let's just say that Hilary Duff wasn't the only actress who tried out for the role of Lizzie McGuire.
As we all know by now, Lindsay didn't get the part, but lucky for her, it didn't make or break her career. Turns out Lindsay had even better opportunities ahead, landing the iconic role of Cady Heron in Mean Girls and totally kicking ass at it. Rock on, Lindsay!
