Shawn Mendes Ends Late Late Show Run with “Perfectly Wrong” Performance

Shawn Mendes‘ weeklong takeover of The Late Late Show with James Corden concluded last night — we know; we wish it could’ve gone on forever, too — and the Canadian crooner made sure to go out with a bang. While his skits, interviews and carpool karaoke were obviously some of the highlights of the residency, his live performances simply cannot be overlooked.

A day after performing “Like to Be You” with Julia Michaels for the first time ever, the 19-year-old took to the Late Late Show stage once again to perform a chilling version of “Perfectly Wrong,” which is featured on his self-titled third studio album.

“[It’s about] in a poisonous relationship, how sometimes when it’s the darkest it’s the most beautiful at the same time,” he previously explained about the song’s meaning.

Shawn was joined by a string section and piano player to bring the heartfelt tune to life, providing us with some serious chills all over our bodies.

In addition to performing on his last day taking over, the teenager also gifted the Late Late Show staff with special #LateLateShawn (lol) merch to commemorate his time on the show. Host James Corden says, “It was the sweetest gift from an incredibly kind, funny, talented man.”

Could he get any more perfectly wrong!?
