Shawn Mendes Nails Cover of Camila Cabello’s “Never Be the Same”

Camila Cabello may have been the artist who sang “Never Be the Same,” but some are arguing that Shawn Mendes‘ cover of the track is better than the original. Eep! The songstress should probably keep a close eye on track if she wants to keep it… Just kidding. We’re sure her bestie wouldn’t take it away from her.

Anyway, speaking of Camila’s bestie, Shawn has been everywhere recently promoting his new songs “In My Blood” and “Lost in Japan” and we are seriously loving it. Although we still don’t know when we’re getting the new album, the 19-year-old has been slowly giving us some details and we don’t think we can wait any longer!

Not only did we get an incredible music video for “In My Blood” yesterday, but the singer also sat down with the Vodafone Big Top 40 radio show in the UK to talk about his new tunes and to answer some fan questions. While most of the interview was a normal Q and A, we did learn some awesome new facts like “In My Blood” was the first song written for the album and Shawn was really nervous to release it because of how personal and vulnerable it is.

He was also asked about who else is featured on the album and while he did confirm that although he didn’t collaborate with any specific boy band members *cough*Niall*cough*, he did work with friends he has known for a long time now.

We can’t be the only ones who immediately thought of Shawn’s long-time BFF Camila, right? The two have already worked together on the hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer” so it makes sense that their next step would be to collab on an album. Color us even MORE convinced that this is true after a fan asked Shawn to attempt to sing the high notes in “Never Be the Same” and he did so flawlessly.

Needless to say, we don’t think any Shawn or Camila fans would be surprised if a collab between the two besties popped up on the singer’s upcoming album. Just sayin’.
