How Noah Centineo Helped Shannon Purser Through Her 1st On-Screen Kiss
It doesn’t matter if you’ve kissed someone IRL — having your first on-screen kiss is nerve-wracking AF! Shannon Purser was super nervous before having her first on-camera smooch session in Sierra Burgess Is A Loser but, lucky for her, she had co-star and real-life prince Noah Centineo to calm her down.
SBIAL is about the 21-year-old’s character, Sierra, who catfishes the 22-year-old’s character, a high school football star named Jamey, because she’s insecure about her appearance. In true rom-com fashion, the characters end up kissing at some point in the flick.
The Stranger Things alum had never smooched someone while the cameras were rolling before, however, so she was rightfully terrified. While she says the nerves made the moment “so honest,” she also admits to Teen Vogue that it wouldn’t have been the same without Noah, who was “so sweet” about the memorable scene.
“Noah was also my first on-screen kiss, which I was very terrified about at the time. And he was so sweet about it. What you see is what you get with him. I feel like, especially in Hollywood, you meet people with ulterior motives, who are trying to get something from you. Noah was just like genuinely kind and lovable from day one.”
On a scale from 1-10, the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before heartthrob says the Sierra-Noah kissing scene is “an 11.”
“It was so much fun to film,” he adds. “The scene was great, super cute, gotta love it, you’re gonna love it I promise.”
Sierra Burgess Is A Loser hits Netflix TOMORROW, September 7, so if you’re anxious to see this scene, you don’t have to wait much longer.
