Shailene Woodley Replacing Jennifer Lawrence For Last Two ‘Hunger Games’ Films, Mockingjay Part I and II

By  |

Wow, this is news we didn’t see coming! It’s reported that due to some scheduling conflicts, Jennifer Lawrence is bowing out of the final two Hunger Games films, with Shailene Woodley taking her place. The Oscar-winning actress has too many projects on her plate, as she is currently filming an untitled David O. Russell project in Boston, and still has to shoot X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Also, since Shailene has lined up not one, but two film roles based on books, it makes sense that she would step in Jennifer’s place. In addition to taking on the role of Katniss Everdeen in Mockingjay Part I and II, she’s currently filming The Amazing Spider-Man sequel in NYC, and will being shooting Divergent in Chicago this month. Also, she’ll play a cancer patient named Hazel in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars.

Fun fact, Shailene actually auditioned for the role of Katniss for the book’s adaptation, but lost out to Jennifer.
