7 of the Shadiest Things Taylor Swift Has Ever Said (Outside of Her Music)
Swifties… it’s time for us to get real for a second. When Taylor Swift began her rapid rise to fame back in 2006, she was just 16 years old. Inevitably, with her sweet smile, adoring personality and super relatable lyrics, she quickly earned the title of “America’s Sweetheart.”
Maybe that was true back then, but now that over ten years have passed, we think it’s fair that we look further into the evidence and reevaluate whether or not Taylor is still worthy of this title.
While it’s true that she has always, to this very day, maintained an amazing relationship with her fans, it seems like over the past several years, Taylor’s relationships with some of her music industry peers have gone downhill… and fast! Whether it’s drama between her and one of her former flames, a fellow female pop star or a certain rapper and his reality star wife, it’s no secret that the 27-year-old blonde has managed to let some shadiness slip from her lips in these last few years. Here’s our list of the shadiest things Taylor Swift has ever said:
When she threw shade at Kanye West during the 2016 Grammys.
Last year, while standing at the podium accepting her award for Album of the Year for 1989, Taylor took the opportunity to create a little extra buzz around the recent drama between her and Kanye West.
As the story goes, Kanye included explicit lyrics about Taylor in his song, "Famous," which he, to this day, insists she approved of beforehand.
However, at the Grammys, Taylor couldn't have made her disapproval any more clear. Before she confidently walked off stage, she said, "There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don't let those people sidetrack you, someday, when you get where you're going, you will look around and you will know it was you, and the people who love you who put you there." BURNNN!
Is she still “America’s Sweetheart” all these years later? We’re going to go with no… but you decide!
