The K-Pop Community Mourns 100%’s Lead Singer, Seo Minwoo, After Death
OMG, another K-Pop star unexpectedly passed away!
Yesterday, Seo Minwoo, the lead singer of South Korean boy group 100%, was found dead at his home in Seoul, much to his fans’ dismay. In a statement released by his agency today, T.O.P. Media revealed, “Our artist 100%’s Seo Minwoo left us on March 25th.”
“We apologize to deliver you a saddening news like this,” the statement continued. “The deceased had been found dead at his house in Gangnam. He is the oldest in the group and he took care of the other members. He also the one who loved his fans a lot. The funeral will be held privately.”
So far, no details have been given as to the 33-year-old musician’s cause of death.
This is yet another K-Pop star to pass away in recent months. In December, SHINee‘s lead singer, Kim Jong-hyun, was found unconscious in a hotel in Seoul following an apparent suicide. He left a note behind, further indicating that he took his own life, which reportedly read, “I am broken from inside. The depression that had been slowly eating me up finally devoured me and I couldn’t defeat it.”
“Maybe I wasn’t supposed to come up against the world,” he continued, “maybe I wasn’t supposed to be known to the world; I’ve learned that’s what (makes my life) difficult. How come I chose that?”
SM Entertainment, the management group behind SHINee, confirmed the devastating news, saying, “On December 18, SHINee member Jonghyun left our side unexpectedly. He was found unconscious at a residential hotel in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul and was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on the evening of the 18th.”
Our condolences go out to the family, friends and fans of both of these late musicians. May they rest in the sweetest peace.
