Selena Gomez Finally Drops Highly Anticipated “Wolves” Collab With Marshmello

Selena Gomez has been dropping hit after hit, and her latest collaboration with Marshmello is no different. After teasing fans with tiny snippets of “Wolves” over the week, Selener finally released the track — and to no one’s surprise, it’s pretty much a banger.

Thank God releasing the song wasn’t the only thing the singer did because we have questions. Once the song was released, Selena opened up about how her collaboration with Marshmello came about on Zane Lowe‘s Apple Music show.

“This was a song that I heard in Japan for the first time and I was talking to Andrew Watt, who is one of the writers who I’ve worked with for years and he actually just played a rough version,” she explained to Zane. “He sent it to Marshmello and we ended up talking and created a really cool tone and a story with it.”

The 25-year-old Disney Channel alum then went on to admit that during the time she was working on “Wolves,” the song weirdly mirrored everything that she was going through at the moment. “The song is very beautiful and personal and the lyrics just have, you know, a whole story of its own,” she said. “Weirdly at the same time I was working on it in Japan I was going through stuff too, so it’s mirrored everything.”

It’s kind of incredible how something that started off as just a song for Sel turned into something very personal. With lyrics like, “I’ve been running through the jungle, I’ve been running with the wolves, to get to you, to get to you,” AND the fact that she said the song mirrored her life at the time, it kinda makes you wonder if the songstress was thinking of The Weeknd when she recorded this song.

Maybe that’s what she meant by the track mirroring her life because she was probably far away from Abel at the time? Or maybe it just mirrored her love life in general. Either way, it’s a great song and we’re totally digging it.
