Selena Gomez Breaks Her Silence About Demi Lovato’s Overdose
When Selena Gomez found out about former BFF Demi Lovato‘s drug overdose, she was reportedly “very upset and emotional.” E! News reported that the “Back to You” singer privately reached out to D.Lo’s family following her hospitalization, and SelGo confirms that suspicion in an interview with ELLE.
The interview with the mag took place just six days after Demi’s OD, and Sel was still visibly upset about what happened, choking up when she started talking about the girl who was once her best friend.
“All I’m saying is, I reached out personally,” SG tells ELLE. “I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I… I love her. I’ve known her since I was 7. So…it’s…that’s what I’ll say.”
While Selena kept her mouth shut about Demi’s OD for quite some time, her mom, Mandy Teefey, showed her support on Instagram just a day later. The 42-year-old posted a throwback picture of the girls and wrote a sweet note that reads, “This was exactly 10 yrs ago at S, Sweet 16. @ddlovato we love you. The world is a better place because of these infectious smiles. My heart hurts.”
Selena and Demi met while auditioning for Barney & Friends when they were just 7 years old and rose to fame together on Disney Channel. While they were once inseparable, the girls had a falling out in 2010. They reunited at the InStyle Awards in October 2017, proving that while they might not be as close as they once were, there’s no bad blood between them.
