Selena Gomez’s Mom Recalls the Horror of Her Daughter’s Kidney Transplant

We can’t even imagine what this summer must’ve been like for Selena Gomez, Francia Raisa and their family and friends. We know undergoing a kidney transplant must’ve been incredibly difficult for the 25-year-old, as well as for her 29-year-old best friend and donor. We also think it’s safe to assume that the whole ordeal may have been even more challenging for those close to the girls, more specifically, their mothers.

“This picture is one of the most breathtaking images that will live with me forever,” the “Fetish” crooner’s mom, Mandy Teefy, captioned a photo of her daughter and the Secret Life of the American Teenager star laying next to each other in hospital beds yesterday.

“For all those moments of not knowing if we were going up or going down, I can always come back to this picture and know we can always make it back up.”

The 41-year-old recalled the horror of being helpless as she watched both her biological daughter and the one she gained through this experience go through major surgery that could’ve negatively impacted both of their lives.

She continued, “As a mother I was helpless, scared and all I could do was pray for both of them, Francia’s beautiful family. I am pretty sure I am banned from that hospital. Mama Bear was in high gear. Selena gained a kidney, I was able to keep my little girl, but I also gained another daughter….thank you to everyone who was there for Sel, Francia and our families. We survived from all the love, prayers and God.”

Ugh. Thankfully, everything worked out with the surgery, but the waiting process must’ve been horrible. Francia Raisa is truly and angel that we’re sure the Gomez family will never be able to thank enough.
