REPORT: Selena Gomez Cancels Tour to Deal with Lupus Disease

By  |

Instagram (@selenagomez)What seemed like the year of her life is slowly turning grim. In the last month, Selena Gomez openly cursed on stage in front of hundreds of her young fans, canceled the remaining shows of her Stars Dance tour in Australia in Asia and, most recently, crashed her car in front of a score of paparazzi. Now, the reason behind what the public's referring to as a 'meltdown' is coming to the forefront…

According to Popdust, the 21-year-old singer is battling a disease. "Selena was diagnosed with Lupus a couple of years ago and that she has suffered multiple 'flares' recently, causing facial swelling, extreme fatigue, headaches and joint pain." The report continues to say that "Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her Lupus is really catching up with her right now."

Here's a quick rundown on what the "Come and Get It" crooner may be experiencing: Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. This results in symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs.

So far, no one from Sel's camp has come out to confirm or deny the Lupus claims. Whether or not this is what she's experiencing, we wish her well. Leave any encouraging notes for the former Wizards of Waverly Place star in the comments below, or on our Selena Gomez message board.
