Selena Gomez to Showcase Her Struggles with Lupus in New Documentary

By  |

Selena Gomez seems to be following in Lady Gaga‘s footsteps and is bringing awareness to her autoimmune disease by starring in an upcoming documentary that will showcase her health struggles and her long road to recovery.

SelGo has been relatively open about her fight with Lupus, and many reports confirm that this upcoming documentary is set to reveal a whole lot more. “She’s making a documentary about her health issues,” InTouch magazine revealed. “Selena will talk about her journey, give viewers insight into lupus and clear up any misunderstandings.”

By giving fans a glimpse into the daily struggles she faces, Selena hopes that her film will be able to inspire others, both those suffering from Lupus and other chronic conditions. “Since having the transplant, Selena’s a changed woman and appreciates how lucky she is,” the report added. “The whole experience has been life-changing.”

Although this news is a big reveal, it’s not completely surprising, as Selena dropped a few hints along the way. Most notably, with the news of her recent kidney transplant, Selena’s friend and donor, Francia Raisa, hinted on Instagram that the two will be sharing their story soon:

Thankfully, Selena and Francia are doing well and have almost fully recovered since her transplant, with reports that Sel was kicking butt in a kickboxing class just weeks after the news of her surgery broke. According to a trainer at the studio she worked out at in New York, “She just came in and went hard. We were all, ‘Okay, that’s what I’m talking about! She killed it!”

The documentary isn’t the only movie the 25-year-old talent has coming up: She’s also hard at work on set for the new Woody Allen flick, in which she shares an on-screen romance with actor Timothee Chalamet, as evidenced by a steamy kiss in Central Park last week.

We’re SO glad Selena is doing well and is ready to share her story in order to educate and inspire others.
