Selena Gomez Surprises 10-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Fan in NYC

Good Morning America

While Selena Gomez has already recently been recognized by both Glamour and UNICEF for the charity work she’s done in 2012, she simply can’t take a break from being a do-gooder.

When 10-year-old Frehley Gilmore was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year, the normally healthy little girl was faced with hospital visits, medications and brain surgery. Thankfully, nine months after the tumor was removed from her brain, Frehley is cancer-free and Make-A-Wish, Wisconsin wanted to grant her a wish to celebrate her success: meeting Selena.

At the time, Frehley said, “I wish to meet Selena Gomez ’cause she’s awesome.”

So, the Gilmore family flew from their WI home to New York City, where Frehley was told she would be taping an episode of Good Morning America to talk about Make-A-Wish. While chatting with GMA and sipping on frozen hot chocolate, she was completely surprised when Sel suddenly walked in. Watch here:

After the initial shock wore off, Selena got her own frozen hot chocolate and joined Frehley for some girl talk and of course pictures to commemorate the moment.

As much as Selena made Frehley’s day (and probably year!), Selena enjoys giving back to her fans just as much. She says, “It’s probably one of my favorite things that I do for my job. It makes me happy to come out and do this. I feel like I’m not doing enough.”

Trust us, Sel, we thinking you’re doing more than enough. Do you agree? Let us know what you think in the Selena Gomez message board!
