#WhyIDidntReport: Sarah Hyland Bravely Publicizes Her Own Sexual Assault Story
Amid Dr. Christine Ford‘s testimony against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, in which she details her alleged assault by him in the 1980s, multiple celebrities are coming out to support her, banning together with the hashtags #IBelieveHer, #WeBelieveChristine and #BelieveWomen. Some are even tweeting their own assault stories under the hashtag #WhyIDidntReport (since people like President Donald Trump are under the impression that charges would have been “immediately filed” if an attack took place).
One such celebrity who is publicizing her story is Sarah Hyland. In October 2017, the 27-year-old actress tweeted, “You are not alone. #MeToo,” but didn’t delve further than that.

Things have changed; she is now ready to detail what happened to her years ago. Here’s her story:
“He was a friend. It was New Year’s Eve my senior year of high school. Everyone was drunk. He broke in to the bathroom I was in. I hoped it was a dream but my ripped tights in the morning proved otherwise. I thought no one would believe me. I didn’t want to be called dramatic. After all, I didn’t say no. Shock can do that to a person.”

Unfortunately, the Modern Family star is no stranger to abuse. In 2014, word got out that Sarah was allegedly abused by longtime boyfriend Matt Prokop. According to TMZ, when filing for a restraining order against him, Sarah claimed that he choked her, pushed her and even threatened her life. “Matthew Prokop terrorized her both verbally and physically during the last 4 years of their relationship,” said the publication. He “pinned Hyland against a car during an argument about her outfit back in May and unleashed hell… calling her ‘c*nt, c*nt, c**t’ and choking her.”
Sarah doesn’t deserve this. No one does.
