Sarah Hyland Attacked for Not Giving Ex Dom Sherwood a Shoutout on Insta
Going through a breakup is tough. Going through a breakup when you’re in the spotlight, we’re guessing, is even tougher. Sarah Hyland knows all too well.
In August, word got out that Sarah and Dom Sherwood broke up after over two years of dating. According to reports, the 26-year-old Modern Family actress and the 27-year-old Shadowhunters actor’s relationship had simply “run its course.”
Unfortunately, since then, the petite beauty hasn’t had the best experiences on social media since the split. Dom was even forced to defend her from fans after they accused Sarah of shading Dom’s co-star, Alisha Wainwright.
One would think that the upside to all of this drama is that, despite Woodland’s lack of future anniversaries, both parties can still celebrate a different anniversary: the date they adopted their dog, Boo. D’aw.
On October 17, 2015, the former couple brought this cutie home:

Despite calling it quits, Sarah & Dom each commemorated the occasion on Instagram:
Sadly, for Sarah, some people on Instagram put a damper on the special occasion because they noticed a one-word difference between her post and Dom’s. In case you can’t see ’em, we’ll point them out:
“Two years ago today I rescued this little baby girl. She’s my best friend, the love of my life, and sometimes the biggest pain in my ass… only when she eats my underwear. Always remember #adoptdontshop”—Sarah
“Two years ago we rescued this gorgeous little creature and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done! #boobear #adoptdontshop ? @stephenbusken”—Dom
Did you catch it? Here, let us make it more clear:
“Two years ago today I rescued this little baby girl.”—Sarah
“Two years ago we rescued this gorgeous little creature…”—Dom
See it now? People are mad because, while Dom said “we,” Sarah said “I.” And people noticed:
Sarah has a reason, though. After acknowledging that, yes, she didn’t adopt Boo by herself, she said, “Why would I say ‘we’ when that doesn’t exist anymore?”
She continued, “I wish nothing but the best for him. But the picture is of me and Boo. No one else. I’m really tired of being criticized for every tiny thing I say. If you don’t like the way I live please unfollow and don’t let the door hit you on your way out.”

Let’s amend what we said: Going through a breakup is tough. Going through a breakup when you’re in the spotlight? Definitely tougher.
Mainstream couples aren’t the only ones calling it quits this year. YouTube couples are, too:
