Sam Smith Breaks Silence About Brandon Flynn, 3 Months After Breakup
Sam Smith and Brandon Flynn‘s relationship came out of seemingly nowhere, but it quickly became one of our all-time faves. While the singer and actor got hot and heavy pretty quickly, things turned sour in June 2018, about nine months after they first started dating, and they decided to break up.
While the “Too Good At Goodbyes” crooner admitted he was “going through some sh*t” just days after the breakup news broke, he never officially discussed the split…until now, that is.
In a revealing interview with The Times, the 26-year-old musician reflects on his romance with the 13 Reasons Why star and admits that the pain from the breakup is “still quite raw” but has nothing but good things to say about his ex-boyfriend.
“Brandon was wonderful,” he says. “I’m still trying to figure out what I took from that relationship and what it meant to me. It’s still quite raw.”
But, on a positive note, he confirms that the breakup was mutual and there were no hard feelings involved.
“All my relationships have ended in a nice way, never nasty,” he explains.
Sam didn’t reveal why he and Brandon decided to go their separate ways, but did admit dating in the public eye is difficult and can put strain on any relationship.
“My life from the outside can seem glamorous, but the reality is that I am on tour every other year and I’m never home, and it’s public,” he says.
Ultimately, the British musician knows that “seeing gay relationships [in a public way] is important and refreshing,” so that’s definitely a plus of being open about his romances. It still can, however, be tolling and he’s not ready to start dating again.
“Right now, the thought of getting into a relationship is too much,” he admits. “I just want to marry my job, work really hard and hopefully, when I’m not looking for [love], it will come.”
